About FACT: Food Animal Concerns Trust, or FACT, has been the leading organization promoting a humane and healthy animal agriculture system since 1982. FACT believes in transforming our food system so that all food-producing animals will be raised in a humane and healthy manner, and everyone will have access to safe and humanely produced food. We envision that this humane system of raising animals for food will replace the current system that relies on factory farms where animals are raised in confinement and in very inhumane conditions. Through advocacy, education, and farmer resources, FACT works at the intersection of animal welfare, human health, and the environment to reduce the harms of industrial factory farming and move us towards humane, sustainable, and healthy food systems.
Schedule and location: This is a remote position that can be performed anywhere in the United States. Work hours are flexible.

About the role: FACT is seeking a full time Humane Farming Outreach Associate to join our growing team. The Humane Farming Outreach Associate supports efforts to promote higher animal welfare standards in agriculture through education, relationship-building, outreach, and program support. This role leads outreach efforts to connect with new farmers, agricultural organizations, and community stakeholders, establishing the foundational relationships needed to drive program enrollment and advance FACT’s mission that all food producing animals will be raised in a humane and healthy manner. FACT’s HF Outreach Associate is heavily involved in FACT’s partnership with ASPCA and farmers nationwide in the FACE Ag Network (faceag.org)
Key responsibilities:
Outreach and Relationship Development
Build and maintain positive relationships with farmers, ranchers, producers, agricultural groups, and partners.
Conduct outreach through phone calls, emails, meetings, conferences, farm visits, and community events to initiate new farmer connections.
Grow FACT’s and the FACE Ag Network’s farmer base.
Coordinate with the FACE Ag Network leaders with their community events.
Travel for farm visits, conferences, and outreach events representing FACT and FACE.
Serve as a FACT representative when interacting with farmers and external partners.
Participate in organizing meetings with our partner ASPCA for the FACE Ag Network.
Program Coordination
Assist in FACT’s webinar and Fund-a-Farmer grant program.
Coordinate FACT’s Scholarship program.
Assist, as necessary, with collecting farmer stories from all programming.
Contribute to FACT’s blog and other publications.
Provide feedback on the development and assessment of Humane Farming Program materials and surveys.
Required Qualifications:
Passion for FACT’s vision and mission that all food producing animals will be raised in a humane and healthy manner, and a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
2+ years working in outreach or basebuilding.
Familiarity with pasture-based, humane farming.
Willingness to travel nationwide for farm visits, conferences, and outreach events.
Fluency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, proficiency with communication tools such as Mailchimp and Canva.
Strong relationship-building and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage thoughtfully and professionally.
A willingness to learn new programs and systems.
Ability to organize projects, manage multiple priorities, and work independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a collaborative environment.
Ability to work cross-functionally with colleagues across departments and organizations.
Detail-oriented with strong accuracy in data management, donor records, and reporting.
Adaptable, strategic, curious, and eager to learn.
Special consideration will be given to candidates with the following experience or comfort:
Pasture-based livestock or poultry farming
Grant writing
Grant program management
Familiarity and comfort with federal policy making
CRM or data management
Prior non-profit work
USDA program familiarity
