Healthy Choices SNAP Waiver Town Hall
Dec 10, 2025
hosted by Department of Family Services
The Department of Family Services has posted an online survey and will host two virtual town halls, at 6:00 p.m. Dec. 8, 2025, and at 2:00 p.m. Dec. 10, 2025, to gather input on the Healthy Choices Food Restriction Waiver for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The waiver was requested by Gov. Mark Gordon through State of Wyoming Executive Order 2025-07 on Oct. 31, 2025.
What is a waiver?
The SNAP program, formerly known as food stamps, is federally funded and governed by the USDA. When a state would like to make changes to grocery items that beneficiaries can purchase through the SNAP program, it submits a waiver request to the USDA. This is the process that Wyoming will follow for the Healthy Choices Food Restriction Waiver. The Department of Family Services is currently gathering information to write the waiver request.
Share your thoughts!
Wyoming stakeholders are invited to share their views in an online survey, available at this link. The survey will close on Dec. 12.
